Disapointment

Is life really all it's made out to be? anyone out there disapointed with life? Not life in the sense of LIFE but i mean in terms of job expectations and such. It seems that the message is "just reach your dreams and you'll be happy and fulfilled." who the heck forgot to tell us about the harships associated with our "dreams."
tell me your thoughts.
i've gotta get off, a teacher needs the computer.
write me. anyone really fulfilled in their job right now?

hey danita, you make some good points. Sometimes it seems that being a young adult is harder than being a teenager! When you're a teen you always push through cuz' you know there's something better coming... well, that's what they tell us anyway. But when you're a young adult... you're getting into the "better years." eh? Should a person stay in their job if they don't know or feel that God has called them to it? does the verse about being content in every and any situation apply? or will you eventually burn yourself out doing a job that stresses you out that you're not sure if God really called you to?

Hey Jenn, you feeling alittle disapointed too. My disapoinment falles in how the church is right now. But for jobs, I dont know, I like what I do, yes somethimes its very hard and sometimes I feel like I'm doing a horrable job. Do I feel fulfilled in my job, well yes, When I see the joy in the kids eyes and the growth in their little lives, I feel like I have done something that not many people can do... "shape the lives of our future leaders" even on the good days and the bad days and the Jesus come and take me home now days.

Fulfilled? That's a word I struggle with. Especially when it comes to jobs. I mean, when you think about it, it's mostly in our country and in the last couple hundred years that options are even there at all. People who grew up on farms became farmers. People who grew up with carpenters became carpenters. Those who were in cooking family restaurants or what not, learned to cook. The problem with "fulfilled" is it turns into preference really. When you have 100 professions to choose from, do many say to themselves, "Man, I'd love to cut up dead people and find out how they died." I'm sure there have to be some who are completely fascinated by this, but I've never had the drive myself. I've worked some good jobs, I got paid well, too, but still I could do jobs that would pay more. There are some things I enjoy, there are other parts I don't. It really is attitude and humility (vs. "I'm too good to put up with this crap) that help you enjoy your work. I think "fulfillment in your job" is tricky like that because it's so closely tied to being "passionate about your work". If you are, awesome, if not, join the club. To put a Bible twist on this, was tent-making the Apostle Paul's passion or was being a witness? Didn't he say something about what would happen if everyone in the body of Christ said, "I wish I was an eye" or "I wish I was a hand"? Fulfillment, it's a tricky word. I don't think this is really an answer, but it's at least a part of it.
