When will we be revived?
Ah, summer holidays. Gotta love 'em! I was finished work on tuesday and i've had the most relaxing few days ever! It's been nice...
you're probably wondering why the title of my blog. Well, I feel so strongly that we as a church really need to be revived. It goes a little into my last blog about what we seek in worship. Yet, it's different. Let me explain...
A lot of people are starting to realize that revival is more than getting all emotional on a sunday morning. And that's great. It's about lifestyle and living like Jesus... helping his Kingdom to be revealed on this earth... and working towards perfect righteousness (already, not yet idea). But I find now, that when we get together to worship, for some reason, God hardly shows up. Is that His fault, or ours? Are we missing it? maybe it's different in your church, but around Portage it's like people just stand there and stare at me when we worship through singing. Others are totally lost in God. I feel like I want so bad to have times where we just linger in God's presence but when we do that, I loose so many people. I think it's cuz' people aren't spending day to day time with God. Then they expect him to show up when it's a good time for them on a sunday morning. Do we really long for God? For his presence in our lives?
thoughts?

it's definately not that God doesn't show up. sometimes people need to be taught how to worship God. take some of the mystery away. i just spoke last night in our evening service, and we all learned and practiced different prayer/worship postures like raising hands, kneeling, lying facedown etc. a lot of the time people just don't understand them. so, we went over the significance/biblical basis for them. though it's important to note that people who don't do these things are certainly not less spiritual. i think my main point last night was that when we worship authentically, any worship is acceptable to God, whether its sitting there not singing anything or dancing like a crazy person. on the flipside, if we're just doing these things because we've always done them, whether is sitting there not singing anything, or dancing around like a crazy person, it's time to re-evaluate our worship of God.

Your not alone in feeling this way. Its everywhere across Canada, I feel it here in Winnipeg and I know of others who feel the same way in other provinces.
I would agree with jpunk5 about the different postures of worship, just looking in scripture and you will see they didn’t stand and sing they knelt and lay facedown as he explained, but I would also go on to say worship is more then just singing and I believe you are on a road to going into deeper worship and seeing how we worship in our daily lives Jenn and I am excited for you, Your blog before this one has really got me thinking about it and you are defiantly onto something there. And if you don’t mind me saying that when you explore this revelation and put it into practice your going to get to higher heights with God.
I do have to say that I have never heard of anyone thinking revival as emotional filled Sundays, I do know people think its when everyone is getting saved, but I agree with you its about living your life for God and drawing closer to Him.
I know what you mean when you say God hardly shows up, its in my church too, and the same thing happens when we are worshiping, some are standing and some are worshiping some are looking at the worship team in aw at their talent. But God is still there.
I know for me having been able to enter and given the time to enter and linger into the Holy of Holies at the church I attended while at school and during worship chapels… Now back home its hard when the atmosphere isn’t here (like I can feel into the spiritual realm so I can feel the freedom to worship or the bondage over the worship) that’s what I mean by atmosphere. I am not given the time to enter into the Holy of Holies or have to stop just as I am about to enter in.
Jenn, I don’t know how you lead worship but maybe you should give instruction on worship as you lead like what jpunk5 was talking about, like not all at once but a little here and a little there. Like if you do bring your church into the presence of God and want to linger there you can explain what you are doing and tell them what to do… its just ideas that I am tossing out, I’m sure you have had these or others.
But I would say its our fault for not seeing God move. Either because we don’t allow Him to or we just expect Him to move in a certain way and He does differently and we just don’t see it. We do expect God to move when we want it, when we have the time.
I long for more of God, I want to become a better Christian (Follower of the Rabbi Yehoshua) I want to know more about God and Jesus, to discover more about who He really is.
But Jenn I’ve done it again, written a book… sorry hope you don’t mind…. Check out my blog’s sometime too if you don’t.
